If it was a bomb shelter it would have been an old one. It appeared to be quite old. To the best of our knowledge it would have had to have been constructed sometime before 1930 or so. The house itself was built in the late 1800s and it came into family possession around 1930. While it was owned by the family it wasn't built. I thought it was as neat as all get out. I wish I had one in my back yard.

Hmmm Interesting. It was probably meant to hold water then which is the most likely use. Two other uses could be for a bank vault or a grave vault. It would be fun to have one for storage purposes though. Neat!
