I'm in total agreement with Cabin Fever on this one.

Goodness gracious!

Mom is watching it.

And even if it does get a bit infected, it's just the body's natural reaction to trying to eliminate a foreign substanse by sending extra white cells to the site.

Put a little Neosporin or Triple antibiotic ointment on the area and soak it a couple of times a a day (let her play in the bathtub twice a day). It'll most likely work it's way out.

Now if she should begin to run a fever or become lethargic, or develop a red area larger than the immediate area, then go to see the doctor.

Earlier this year I had the bulls-eye rash that indicates Lyme disease. I never saw a tick on me and didn't know I had been bitten. Went to the Doc who put me on 30 days of Doxcy. This is the standard treatment for lyme disease when it is caught early. I was lucky and follow-up tests proved negative.

Here's where the scary part comes in. You can have lyme disease and never get the rash, so most likely, a person who doesn't get the rash wouldn't get treatment. If untreated, lyme can become a debilitating disease which is very difficult to treat. And it may only be after many years of fatigue, malaise, memory problems, etc before a doctor actually diagnoses the problem as lyme disease.

So while there may be some overreaction here, I think an educated decision is the best one. Many of us are just trying to help with the education part.
