I had 2 Jeep Wranglers on the farm, and would tow my hay and feed on a flat bed. Squirrelly as all get out, and if I remember right the towing capacity was 2200 pounds.

Saying that, I loved my Jeeps, they're awesome on a farm. I thought they were the most dependable vehicle I've ever had.

I love my Jeep and wouldn't trade it for anything, but I also wouldn't tow more than a logsplitter with it (or a very small utility trailer). I towed my cycle home from Green Bay once... total weight maybe 1,200 pounds... 90 minute ride... no worries.

I tow logs with it, pull snow machines and ATVs out with it, even pull the pickup and tractors out every now and again.

I towed a 1966 Holiday Rambler, 2800 lb., tongue weight 350lb, thirty-five miles from Appleton. It did the job, but I was very concerned about overworking the tranny.

I'd love to pull it up to Rhinelander, but it made me pretty nervous. I can't afford a new transmission!

Edited to add: I should have mentioned it is a 1993 Grand Cherokee with a V6.

you might consider a 1-ton full size van. We got a used one from the forest service, it's been great (DOdge), we've hauled all sorts of stuff inside, can fit 3 full size dirt bikes inside it (and it's nice to have everything LOCKED UP). It's pulled well and been tough. It did not come with a bench seat(It was stripped inside, bare metal and just had the two front seats), we bought a bench seat from a mini van and got these screw things to attach it to the floor. It's pretty handy to take out that seat, and makes a nice couch by the camp fire. We four can all sleep in it. With two med-big dogs. We live two miles off the pavement and up a long hill with at least 12%+ grade in parts--we tow a travel trailer(old so it's heavy) with four dirtbiks inside. The van has to get a running start at the hill, but we've always managed to get up the hill(ha or down it). That van has been a great value!!!
