Both went Fed Ex, and did need to be dropped off at the main hub, and "inspected" for proper packing before sealing up and sending off. It was kind of funny because the clerk seemed so nervous to even be looking at a pistol.

Yes but the manufacturers are FFL holders already and you were returning them to be repaired... so there is a big difference... The manufacturer logged them in when they received them and logged them out when they sent them....There is a lot going on "behind the scene".... Fed Ex also had paper work to complete to ship them... and they are supposed to transport them securely... When we(major US trucking company) shipped new pistols, we had to take pictures of them when we opened the trailer and when we put them into the next trailer just before the door was closed and locked and secured... plus paper work..
