It's inert in the soil and doesn't effect drinking water at all.

Stihl is the best of the best. According to what you need they are somewhere between $250 and $550 but what ever you get, if you pick it to meet the job you have, it will last a lifetime.

Never drain all the fuel from from a small engine or put it up with an empty tank.
If it runs out fill it back up and start it again and let it run until it smooths out and then turn it off and put up. They have materials in them that are not designed to be soaked in gas and then allowed to dry out.
I do, even during the winter, try to keep it a habit of on the first of each month take every thing out and start and use a little bit, top the tank back off and put it up.
If all you have are small weeds and you cut them every few weeks one of the smaller STHIL's would be good but I prefer the midrange myself.

Round-up here. Round-up goes to the root and kills the plant. It does not seep into the ground. Very safe and effective. The farmers use it for no-till planting. I weed whacked and mowed for several years until this year. I did the round-up in the spring and touch ups now and then since then.

I use a straight shaft Husqvarna 125L...and replaced the string with Gator teeth. The thing is wicked. I used it for four straight hours last Saturday and it never missed a beat.

All of my two-stroke power equipment is made in Sweden by Jonsered. I've owned Jonsered equipment for over 30 years. I recommend it highly. When Stihl used to made in Germany, I would say that Sthil and Jonsered were equal. Nowadays, Stihl is not made in Germany and its quality is not the same. Today, Jonsered makes the superior machine.

What ever "weed wacker" you get, I'd recommend one that has a straight shaft and "bicycle" handle bars (ie, a grip for each hand). In addition, consider a model that uses multiple heads. Mine has a string trimmer head, a heavy grass blade, as well as, a brushcutter head (think carbide-tipped, circlesaw blade). My Jonsered brushcutter is more than 10 years old and hasn't skipped a beat.
