To be sure, the "is s/he getting enough?!" is the most common question out there!
But actually, the easiest way to tell if they're getting enough is if they're peeing and pooping regularly. In those early weeks, 6-8 wet dipes and 3-5 poopy ones are the standard. (Though wet dipes are harder to gauge with today's high absorbency disposables)
And after a few weeks, it's not at all unusual for a BF baby to have a poopy dipe once every few days.

LOL, my hubby was thrilled that I breast fed, it meant he didnt have to do anything difficult, like mix formula or heavens above, get up himself and feed the baby at night lol

SouthernThunder, how are the three of you doing, is your wife less sore and the two of you enjoying your new addition?

Your wife can buy a breast shield, which is a latex cover you put over your nipple and the baby can still feed, also if she has more milk than he can drink she can freeze it for when you and your wife are out and the baby is at a sitters.

I breast feed to of my 4 children, and I would freeze some of my milk and take it to the sitters when my husband and I would go out.

If you get the nipple shield be sure that you do not forget and leave it in the pan too long when you sterilize it in boiling water. The smoke will cover the kitchen ceiling like paint and take that long to remove.
