WI does have fairly high real estate property taxes, so that's the downside. Good news is they have very reasonable auto licensing fees.

Thanks for the link! I got to clicking a reading and boy, WI just got so much more interesting.
And they have some awesome festivals about 45 min from the property. I'm super excited about that as well as a semi-local farmer's market. That would help while we get settled in.
We're sending the landlord our application information, but one thing is driving me nuts. He is bent on us seeing the property before we get there, but that's really going to force us to camp (at state parks) for the month of August.
Since DH and I are techies, we live off of details and technical information. And with speaking with the landlord, all of the technicals and then some are exactly what we're looking for. And I know some of you kind folks are going to agree with him, but we don't have the resources to drive to WI just to look at the property and then come back. And camping at the state parks for a month is going to be freaking expensive. So we're in little bit of a delima. I think I might have to pop on craigslist and see if anyone local to that would allow us to camp on their property in exhange for work and a small monetarty fee. I can't justify $18 a night x 41 days on top of a $1200 deposit. So we'll see what I can whip up.

(Might have to come back to your place cc-rider for a little wihle. :P ) But we'll work it out. We're young enough to be plenty adaptable and flexible.
I'm thinking DH just needs to talk to him. I seem to have more luck with DH having a man to man talk with him. So maybe we won't have to leave terribly soon and can wait till mid August before we head out (as apposed to July 19/20th! Eeek!)
I'll keep you folks updated as I get more news. And thanks again for your help and information.
