Any time I check back in on one of these "it doesn't work" threads, the page doesn't pull up the first couple tries. Oh, the irony.

I was getting that message a bit ago. It happens. Servers run out of space or get overloaded. I just try again later in the day. Periodically my web servers have difficulties too. The web hosting company tends to over load the servers or someone's script goes wild and uses up too much processing power (latest issue).

Cheers

Another way to copy and paste is to use the "Edit" button on your browser window and "Select all", then right click your computer mouse to get "Copy" and also for "Paste".

I usually highlight with the mouse and use the right clicks menu. To highlight with the mouse as mentioned you can begin at the left side or rights side, bottom of the text or top. It all highlights the same. For partially lines of text just begin at the point where you would like to start and drag toward the area you intend to keep and then down the page.

Me too. I always copy my post before submitting. I learned that lesson real quick! LOL...

Also learned it is often faster to open new browser, sign in and post, than to wait for the site on original post.

Always do large post on a word processing program and back up often. When you're done cut and paste. You never know when things will hic-up. After losing a few long email replies the wife finally took my advice.

I have also started highlighting and copying my larger 'quick' replies because every so often I hit summit and get an error. Much easier to cntl-V then type the entire thing in again.

I chalk it up to all the recent sunspot activity.

I got the Database Error reading last night and on into this morning. But I had the same message for some other sites too. I tell ya, it's the sunspots.

Denali, this may be true but I still think it's wonderful that they open their proverbial house for all of us to visit in. To me, the site problems are part and parcel of accessing, without charge, a high-traffic website.

Or to even shorten that, just hold down the Control key and hit the A key, and it will "copy All", then hold down the Control key and hit the V to paste it where you want it.

I also learned quickly to copy anything before I tried to post, after losing a really long one I'd worked hard on, lol.
When I first started using computers I can't tell you how happy I was when I figured out how to copy and paste. I'd just slavishly re-type stuff. When I stumbled on how to do that I was simply giddy.

One of the pleasures of teaching yourself to do something. Lots of "Wow! Look what I just figured out!".

Of course when he wakes up from being hit with the rolling pin he is much more helpfull lol

I had server eror all day yesterday but just kept trying, it eventually worked this morning so no prob really, just part and parcel of the modern age (wink)

So, are you going to clue us in on how much they are spending now? Can anyone give an actual statistic on the uptime for this current server? I don't make it here every single day, but I can count on one hand the number of times the site has been down for me in the last year. There is no web server anywhere, that has 100% uptime, and no website with the traffic this one has could claim 100% uptime even if their server was always up.
