There's a 40,000+ acre fire burning in Eastern NC since the 5th of June.
I'm about 75 miles from it and the smoke here is so dense you can only see about 1/4 mile.
It's so dry my pastures are turning brown, and no rain predicted for at least 2 more days, with only a 30% chance then.

We are just coming out of a drought that lasted 7-8 years. It's going to take 5+ years like this one has started for us to completely come out of it and fill our lakes and resivors (sp?).

We're past year 13 for this drought. Doesn't seem to be an end in sight, although this last season (including an unseasonably wet May) has taken some of the pressure off things. We're waiting for manatory water rationing, I'm thinking it's only a matter of time.
