I use my grill year round even in snow and rain...about 3-4 times a week. Love grilling salmon outside...doesn't leave your house wearing a fishy stink. Hate turning the oven on inside in the summer when it's already sweltering.

Dunno. I don't grill anymore (been years....). Anytime I have been somewhere the grill was being used, it always take WAY longer then on the stove. Cleanup is not always just "turn up the fire and burn it off", there's scrubbing with the brush, too. Like I said - I like the food, but the cooking and cleanup can be left for someone else.
On the stove, I can cook the meal, eat it, AND clean up before the grill gets lit, heated up, and the food cooked.

Scrounger, are these people cooking with charcoal? Because that DOES take longer!
My gas grill it fires up instantly, and when I use wood I get a fire very quickly by using a lot of twigs. And, when I clean up, I just give perhaps 10 strokes of the wire brush.

My brother has several grills gas, wood, charchol - it seems like they all take awhile.
Our gas grill has set on the patio - unused - for the past three years. My wife doesn't really want to fire it up for just the two of us, and I sure as heck ain't gonna!

You folks need to grow some luffa sponges for cleaning the grill. Just let them complete the drying on the vine and they will be hardened enough to tackle the tuff grease on them grates then just toss in the trash or save for starting more charcoal or fires. Eddie

My grandfather has always used a cast iron griddle to make eggs, pancakes, and bacon over the fire while camping...there's really no way to describe eggs cooked in bacon grease over a wood fire. My brain cannot even find words to explain the heavenliness of it.
Onto the original topic- I don't like grilling because I suck at it. I'm just not good at setting up a good fire and getting it to stay consistently, but if my husband gets the fire going, I am more than happy to take it from there. Normally, though, he prefers to do the whole thing himself. We like to do corn in the husks and whole potatoes in the fire.
We are not allowed to burn leaves or yard waste in my area, so we use natural charcoal mixed with mesquite or hickory briquets and discreetly tuck in a few branches from our yard.

I love it.
It's easier than cooking in the house. Easy as falling off a log. I can straight put out some grub when I get the grill going. You can cook a lot and cook it fast. No better or easier way to make steak or burgers.

I send hubby out the door to cook on the grill while I get the rest of the food ready. He's out of my kitchen and I don't have to cook the meat! It can't get much better than that now can it? lol

I grill year round. Grill is in the garage. Open the door, roll it onto the driveway, and cook. Never have to brush snow off in winter. Best investment we ever made was our $29.00 rotisserie. Have cooked Chuck eye roasts, pork tenderloin, whole chicken, duck and goose. I LOVE MY GRILL!!!!!!!. That goose shed nearly a guart of fat.

Ah...my poor little eyes. I can't believe that I just read those words!
The only thing that I do not like about grilling is that people mistake that for BBQ. 2 totally different things...I am waiting for some cooler weather and I will be building an honest to goodness Carolina BBQ pit in the back. My rough drawings show about 1000 red bricks and I think I finally will have an excuse for a stick welder. My MIG just don't have enough juice for some of the metal work I may need.

I think I would starve without my grills.I have two small gas grills, three small charcoal grills, one medium sized one I built from a 55 gallon barrel that converts to gas or coals, and a big pig cooker I built myself,on a trailer, that uses gas or coals also.I'm planning on building a brick or stone grill in the garden near the house as soon as I can get some shade over in that corner.Pam loves it when I cook the whole meal on the grill and the girls love anything I cook, especially ribs, thats the only way to cook them.Anyone that don't like grilled food needs to come by my house the last Sunday before Christmas, any year, and try some North Carolina style bar-b-que cooked all night on oak wood and I promise they will be willing to cut the wood for the next one!!

I love cooking over a woodfire and I don't mind a charcoal grill, but I hate using a gas grill. I just can't keep it regulated and I end up burning the food. It's either too low or too high and I just end up getting really stressed out with it. Yeah, I'd much rather cook over a wood fire or cook in the kitchen.
