I live in the same county as mtfarmchick. If shes from AZ and can handle cold so well (especially cold driven by wind) then I would bet you'd acclimate just fine. Zone 4 would be like Texas to me. To start with, just spend plenty of time outdoors during the winter. The more time your outside and not basking in warmth day and night, the quicker you'll adjust. If wherever your heading doesn't have high wind chills, then it will be child's play taking the cold. The secrets to real cold wether are several. Keep hydrated for good circulation. Wear a warm hat so you don't loose so much heat quickly. Wear a good pair of poly underwear. Don't worry, the poly underwear will hug your curves keeping your girlish figure catching eyes all winter. Keep drafts from getting past your clothing. If your still a wuss, just buy an electric snow suit. These suits take an awful lot of D batteries, but being a wuss is expensive, LOL! Oh heck, you'll do just fine I'm sure. If the winter days are not to bad, you can get by with just jeans, but the real secret is a warm wind breaking jacket and a hat. Those two pieces alone will keep your jean clad legs warm enough. Good luck.

the wind blows and I die. sigh...

Well, tha'd depend on who you were with :baby04:

Seriously, cold weather would be good for you. It'd give your body something to work for and make healthier overall. Well, sounds good anyways. I think you need to stand outside in an -80 wind chill for one hour with out so much as a bush to hide behind, I bet tha'd cure your chill problem real quick. probably make the rest of us watching out the window with our backs to the stove, laugh out loud too, hehehe.

yeah, I walked into a -30 blast freezer once, and walked right back out.

Ive also been in a -14 freezer, and it only took 3 breaths to freeze the inside of my noseholes.

LOL! You'll have to carry a jar of vaseline with you up North, cause with out it, they'd find you laying on the frozen ground from dry froze together nose holes! Hard to imagine petroleum jelly could save a Southerner's life.

I've worked in -30 many times, and without wind, it's livable. You'll be alright, just keep your lips waxed, jelly inside your nose, and maybe a few shots of brandy every 10 minutes or so. You just have to adapt and use the tools at your disposal, wether it smears on or pours down, LOL!

bwaaahhaaahaaa!

I always had this horrible image of me frozen to the field like a popsicle with my mouth hanging open and in mid-step, one foot suspended in the air. Now add to that frozen shut noseholes.

you make me scream with laughter!

do you know what else happens when its -30 with no wind? If you poot, you die, cause in that kind of cold, stench lingers.

hhaaahaahahaa!

Now I am not suggesting you stay inside all the time. And the wrap thingy is just another tool to use. Beleive me ,you will have times you run in and out quickly. Maybe you'll want to get the mail before you are properly dressed, etc. Forty below zero will motivate you in ways you can't imagine, haha.

Your body will adjust. You're going to feel like you're freezing to death for the first few months, but then you'll adjust.

When I was 23 I moved from zone 7 to zone 2b. I thought I'd die.
Flannel lined jeans were my friend. My friends bought me fur-lined slippers as a going away gift. Then, summer came, and by the time fall rolled around, my body had adjusted. Yours will, too, just give it some time.
