Well Marlene, as Laura won't give her goats away free (imagine that) I guess I won't be going there for now.
I will just have to try to come there that Saturday for the big lunch. By then my baby goat can be down to two bottles of milk a day I think, so that will work out.
We are going to try really hard.

27 days??? wow!!
15 days of school left, then 2 "professional days" then 2 days to go to ark to visit relatives, then the campout.....
found out this am they are juggling the schedule again for the next school year, so i have no clue what i'll be teaching next year. i do know i have a job! i did tell the boss mans i don't wanna teach all science, nor do i want to teach social studies. i enjoy science, but it's not my best subject to teach, b/c i don't know it all that well. so i may be teaching math, reading, english (5th grade), art, or who knows. sigh. i will likely be teaching the lower end sped ed again (b/c there's really no one else to do it, b/c the upper end says he has enough already.)
i just love all this uncertainty!!

Had a busy, but very pleasent weekend -- leaving both days before I even had my coffee or my Homesteading Today fix.
Saturday we went to the Expo Center in Springfield for a Convoy of Hope/local radio/t.v. stations sponsored Emergency Preparedness Fair -- it was educational and entertaining. Those guys are masters of plans/lists/be ready for anything -- "I" was impressed.
Had to chuckle at the idea that we were excited to find gas at [B]only[B] $3.29/gallon at Ozark -- who would have ever thought that would be something to be excited about...
Yesterday we spend the day at Baker Creek Seeds Spring Festival -- what a growing enterprise that is turning out to be -- Jerimiah, family, and friends are building a old time country village...lots of people, venders, music, crafts etc.
Hello to my new friends -- who mentioned reading about our get together on this thread...I'm not sure I've gotten all the names straight so will not attempt to name names at the fear of omitting any of you. I'm looking forward to seeing how many of you will be able to make it to this years' Buffalo River Spring get together.
Let's see...I missed a couple of day so if my math is correct it should be 24 days left to wait??
Hugs,
Marlene

For those of us who have never been, could you answer a couple questions? Do we need to bring water or is there water at camp ground? And is this individual campsites or group camping? And how much is the cost to camp?
Thanks

water is there, but i bring most of my drinking water, just cause. we do drink the water there when the kids have finished off all the water i bring...
we are in the group camping area, $3 per person, per night. (so for my family of 6, it will be $18 a nite, or $36.) what we've done in the past is put a jar out for people to put their $$ in. It has been prepaid, when the reservation was made, and the amount of $$ paid will go to the person who paid it to pay off the credit card it was put on.

We will not be camping but are planning to be there for the mid day meal on Saturday and to visit a few hours before heading home for evening chores.
I have no idea at this point what I am bringing.

Ha ha Marlene.
Watch it WOMAN! I might not come see you if you can't behave yourself.
Come to think of it. I would never see you if I waited for that. Would I?

Corky - people do not give up something they really enjoy without the strong hope that it will be replaced by something they like better ...
But, getting to see you and the Sultan is a lot better then some of the things I do for giggles and kicks -- it will be very easy for me to behave long enough to accomplish the goal of getting to visit with ya'll....
Where are my calf-high rubber boots....
Only 22 more days to go~

Be sure to get the phone number of someone in the area Bill.
I still remember those beans you brought.
I made a big pot of chili with them and brought it the next time.
Thanks! I know you thought you did not do good, but you did.
Hope to see you Saturday.

corky, it'll be good to see you and the sultan-i love looking at pics of your place...
merry medic, do you know yet for sure if you're coming?
marlene, we'd never expect you to change and behave yourself.
ladonna-sucks you can't make it-are you sure?
dennis and don-of course looking forward to seeing you again...
ozark cat and family-i still remember that yummy food....
bill-bring what you like to eat. like i think i mentioned, i'm having caitlin make peanut butter cookies-surely they'll still be good on the 30th if she makes them the nite of the 27th.... i think i'll just stop and pick up some veggies and stuff on the way north on the 30th cause i'll be in benton wed and thurs.

Thanks Laura -- not that I need the encouragement...but I sure like getting it Corky is always looking out for others -- she hate to see anyone get their feelings hurt -- it's a nice part of who she is don't you think?
Bill - if you bring what you mentioned that will be more then enough. Unless you have an extra special menu item that you always get raves on when you make it -- those are always fun to share
This 40/hr week work thing is really going to cut into the spare time I used to make desserts and stuff ahead of time for the get togethers...so I'm not sure what I'm bringing other then the things I mentioned already...but I still have a couple of weeks to see what transpires.
20 more days to go...
Hugs,
Marlene

Where are you Cat? I wanted to let you know I got my order in for buckskin and the stimulated sinew ... but that site either doesn't offer or I could not find the glover's needles...new new suggestion on where to find those. I'm curious to see which style of pattern you are going to use in your demo.
Just 19 more days to go...

I'm sure trying to get the boyfriend off work that weekend and I am really interested in these moccasins that use "stimulated sinew" MarleneS talks about Sounds interesting
Hope to see you all there......

Busily preparing for finals - it keeps me from posting a good bit. I'll need to make a run to the leather store before I go, so I'll pick up a pack of glover's needles to bring with - they usually run about $.75 - $1. I'm open to showing any of the styles, though I know Frenchie was specifically interested in the center-seam moccasin. I'm most familiar with the gathered-toe moccasins, because that's what was popular in the area I grew up in, but picked up a lot of information on the plains-style moccasins from a museum I had the pleasure of doing some study at in South Dakota.
And now back to organic chemistry - ugh! I'd much rather hang out here all day

Thanks for taking time to post Cat I'll be happy with which ever pattern/style you use -- and if Frenchie is hoping for the center seam one - that'll be okay with me too.
"stimulated" sinew might be more difficult to work with uh MerryMedic -- I meant the simulated -- manmade not the real stuff -- but hopefully you already know that. I do hope the boyfriend will get time off.
Only 18 more days to go...

Marlene
