Radon was the health reason given for the need the way I took the story, as it only takes a few quick searches and you can find radon companies that will put in systems for removal or venting of existing homes on the net fairly easily. but will agree I do think the desire was as much for a new house as anything,

and like you said I would not want them touching my place, I like my old house yes there could be a few improvements, but I bet it will may very easily still be standing after many of the new are no longer around,

I may be wrong but glue and wood chips just do not seem like the long term building solution, to me, yes I have used OSB for things but I do not think it will hold up like even plywood does (and it does break down in time delaminates) or definitely will not hold up like solid wood will.

Never thought I would be saying this but the new OSB board is head and shoulders above plywood. Advantech last forever. Plywood is being made in China, of course, and its complete crap. There is so much resin in the new OSB that its closer to a fiberglass or epoxy floor.
Not talking about termite barf here thats a different piece of carp

Y'all are going to laugh at me, but so what....We watched once or twice when the show was new-ish. At the end, the host would yell, "Bus driver...move that bus!" and that's where they lost us. I'm sure the bus driver has a name. How hard would it be to acknowledge that a bus driver is a person? I know it's dumb, but it really rubbed me the wrong way and I assumed a lot of people probably didn't get treated well for what they did for that show.

That, and the constant melodrama -- trying to make people cry. Not my scene.

When they did the house in Philadelphia, they originally were working with a contractor who, after trying to do what they wanted, just gave up and refused to do the job only a few weeks before it was to happen. They got another contractor and subs lined up and actually had some local streets closed for a weekend to get all of the work done fast enough. It seems as if they don't even let concrete cure and glue dry -- I imagine they will all be a maintenance nightmare in the years to come, if the residents can even keep up with the property taxes.
