Just a couple more days!

They're calling for 70% chance of no rain on Sat...

Cyndi,

Could you post directions on how to get there? I can get as far as Dixon, but don't remember after that. Thanks.

From Dixon. I'll give you 2 options, since I'm not sure which way you came in last time.

I-88 west to exit 40 (IL-40)

turn LEFT onto IL-40 south about a mile to THOME RD (first street on right after airport)

turn RIGHT (west) onto THOME, one mile to T-intersection with BUELL RD

turn LEFT (south) onto BUELL RD. start counting the roads on the right. 3rd road is KNIEF RD

turn RIGHT (west) onto KNIEF, one mile to HICKORY HILLS RD

turn LEFT (south) onto HICKORY HILLS RD.

turn right before you reach the dead end. We'll be there!

If you want to take Rt 2, directions are basically the same. RT 2 west to IL 40 South.

Hi there! Our names are Jerry & Cindy. We live in Sheffield IL.. We met a couple at the Sheffield Homecomeing last week-end that told us about the homesteading web site. I do not remember their names but they told us about an event this coming week-end in Tampico??? Do you know who that would be? They have donkey's and horses.. I was so happy to find others in the area interested in the country life like we are. We have 5 acres and have 4 horses, chickens, ducks, cats, dogs, mini horse and a baby colt!! 1 day old! His name is Nugger. A nice looking Pinto. Any info you could give me would be appreciated!

Rick and I will be there I just pm you. I will bring stuff and do painting instructions and answere any questions. Hope someone will be interested. i AM TRYING TO GET RICK TO BRING THE donkey so he would be easy to go through harnessing on since he is small and you can see it up close and personal. please understand we just learned how to harness so don't laugh if his tail ends up with the head stall. I would live to learn how to do everything. if someone offers to teach me anything I am alway the one first in line. and of course soap making is #1 since I have drove cindi crazy asking about it.
My friends are all going to a harness pull week end at jubile and are mads that we are not going. they have tried to put the quilt trip on us but no way, i am going to the homesteading.

Hey!

Nick and I will be bringing a rabbit for butchering demo on Saturday. Also trying to get organized to bake bread in the dutch oven.

What's the vegetable situation looking like? Is anyone bringing one, or shall I plan to bring something?

I'm bringing a rooster with a worn-out welcome. Annette mentioned bringing some cookies and such. Should I make a batch of 'tater salad? and rhubarb cobbler ingredients?

Gotta remember the books for the book swap, too.

And the wheel...and the wool...and...and...!

Amazing G and I are *very* excited!!

She got new barn boots just for the occasion!

Hey Jerry & Cindy,

We're having the homesteading weekend. It's just south of Rock Falls.

From Sheffield, go north on IL-40 to 172/Star Rd.

Take a left (west) onto 172/Star Rd

Go 1 mile to BUELL RD.

turn right (north) onto BUELL RD.

drive about 2 miles to KNIEF RD

turn left (west) onth KNIEF RD

drive 1 mile to HICKORY HILLS RD

turn left (south) onto HICKORY HILLS RD

We're the last place on the right at the dead end.

For more info

DZ is also bringing a Blue Slate tom who's being a jerk to his other toms.

If no one wants him, we may end up making jerky out of him

He should bring a couple of those big bully guineas of his. I'd happily learn how to butcher fowl on those. They are so mean to the other birds!

I am bring elvis my donkey with cart so we can give rides. he just got shaved and is so cute. For those looking to learn how to harness he will be great since you can see him he's so short. I will also bring my paints and such for demos. I do hope soap is on Saturday, it is my only day. I work at 12 on sunday. I want to see the tanning and I will get my hands dirty, where do i start scrapping to tan. luann

Guess What!!!!

I am coming....yippee, yippee, yippee...sorry I just got sooo happy.

I am driving down myself with a pop-up and three of my dd children, including the one who so inadvertently interrupted our visit with you last year with his birthday!

Cyn, do ya think Paul might be willing to help me do whatever I need to do with the pop-up???? Please... I am not versed in the art at all. David is not going to make it b/c of work and figures it best to be here for the livestock anyway. He sends his wishes for a good time and nice weather.

I just found out this am so I am going to do some cooking/baking and we will see you saturday! Bringing the spinning wheel with hopes of more instructions(have not touched it in months) I am a little nervous about the drive...ask Tonya/Cloverbud about me and directions sometime,,not good.

YAY!! Sister Trish will be there!!

Are you coming on Friday or Saturday? Nick and I can help with the set up -- heck, I feel pretty safe in saying that all of us will be happy to pitch in!

Delighted that you can make it!!

At this point in time it looks like we won't be able to make it. Who knew we would be doing our addition this weekend! If we run out of things to do, or lumber, we will show up. Right now we are on a roll and don't want to stop.

Praying the rain away this weekend!!! We need dry weather to finish up

Have a great weekend all!! We will miss you all dearly!

I am pretty sure we will come down saturday morning...I think...Hmmm, maybe tonight, oh golly, I just am not sure, thought I was but I lost it!

Oh Michele, I am so sorry you won't be there. I was really looking forward to introducing Jared (8), Emily (12), and Isaac (will be 1 on the 24th) to your children. Perhaps you can sort of jump over when you need to take a break? If not, of course we understand but will miss seeing you.
