Our septic guy says to pump every two years and considering the problems we've had, that's just what I'm going to do.

You're not going to gain any benefit by cutting into bedrock...unless the bedrock is porous and fractured. And if the bedrock is porous and fractured you may end up drinking your own wastewater.

That's fine, but remember the bottom of the new trench has to be level (at the same elevation for its entire length.)

I get the impression that you have only one L-shaped trench. Do you have approximate dimensions of the trench (width and total length).

More frequent if you have a garbage disposal in the kitchen sink.

Sorry not to update sooner!

With DH TOTALLY unable to do anything but barely walk, things have been hard. NO PAY until he has been off work 15 days, so it's a struggle.

God has blessed us with friends who came over and started digging in the scum for us. They found a clogged spot, and cleared it at least partially so that things are flowing again. They think it might be roots, so as soon as we can, we will dig up that section where the clog was and check it out. At least things are flowing again - no more puddle for the chickens to drink out of.

They also helped us butcher the four wethers, and 2 turkeys! I am just so thankful for them, and for all of yall's help too! I was so afraid this was going to cost a LOT of money that we dont have.

Hey, CF,
Will it change the pumpout time if the ONLY thing going into the septic is 3 toilets and 2 bathroom sinks? The guy that built this house was very .....ummmmm...... creative! Still haven't figured out where the greywater goes, just know it doesn't go into the septic tank! Probably goes into a French drain under the front lawn.... it stays nice and green all summer. Gonna look into rerouting it to the GARDEN, LOL!
