FYI, the John Deere is not really local. When my JD 4700 transmission case cracked it took two months for JD to get the part shipped by boat from Japan. I had bought JD partially on the Buy Locally and parts available premise. No go. John Deere - Made in Japan.

We looked at the 3203 while we were at the Massey/JD dealer. We thought it was okay, despite it's hydro, BUT.....it was more than we could afford. I realize I wasn't clear in my OP, but that 3203 was already out of the budget...even without the backhoe.

I am definitely going to look more into used, but am having trouble finding any 4WD ones.

Ah, I understand now. My credit is not great (I think the score is about 665 or so) and I was able to get $5500, with which I was able to buy a small tractor (too small for what you need though) and a few attachments. You might be suprised at what you might be able to swing for a loan for a used machine. Although I hate having a debt, having the tractor has saved me more than once.
