Kind of off topic, but has anyone else had problems with e-bay's check-out? If I go through their check-out, it takes the money out of my bank account instead of my PayPal account. Even when I go in & check the PayPal balance box. I hate when I have the funds in my PayPal account & it takes it from my bank account. The seller has to wait 3-5 days to clear instead of getting an instant payment. I contacted them about it, but haven't heard anything.

For a seller, the transaction is not complete until we hear from our satisfied customer who has received our product.

Honestly, I'm not trying to make a stink. But to me, all I see on Ebay anymore is the buyer's feedback being held hostage to the seller. The threat is always there when a buyer says "I only leave feedback after I get it". I think this change in policy will be good.

Wendy, I have no idea why it is doing that,

Does it take you to paypal website?

Used to be that it, would always take it out of your paypal balance first regardless if you had enough in it to pay for it, and then take the balance due out of how you choose.

Can you explain a little more detail about how and what is happening?

Just as a side note to you all, if you receive unfair negative or neutral feedback, there IS a procedure to have it mutually removed. It may take a few days, but it is worth the wait. All you need do is go through the Dispute panel, and eBay mediates (kinda). There are a few who won't mutually remove their feedback as it also removes any feedback you may have left for them (in advance - for example, thinking that since they were a fast payer, everything must be ok when in actuality, they are dissatisfied for whatever reason and couldn't be bothered to contact you fist so left you bad feedback).

Ya just can't satisfy everyone

Re: Paypal. eBay bought PayPal several years ago. PayPal is the ONLY approved online payment option now on eBay (altho in the fine print, eBay is careful to say that you can submit a request to have a different electronic option made available to your buyers BUT they are not obligated - and usually do not - to agree). So of course they're going to have their fingers in the pie. Also, if you have a Personal acct, you cannot accept payments, only make them. Thus, if you sell anything online, you must upgrade to either Premier or Business status. I always just go with Premier.

just won and paid for a new wii game system... when paying, i clicked on the confirm payment button expecting to goto the screen with the link-option on it to change where the money is taken from... ya'll know what im talking about? the next screen instead said thanks for your payment!!? i backtracked and sure enough, the option to choose where the money is from is gone!
payment was taken from my savings instead of my CC so i now have a few extra days wait so it can clear.\

im canceling my accounts when its over.

I have a personal acct. I have recently sold items on ebay. I can certainly accept payments... including PayPal.

Then you are in a glitched minority . When I decided to sell rather than just buy on my eBay acct., I was required to upgrade my PayPal account so I could accept payments.

From PayPal:
Quote:
How do I get paid? With PayPal, anyone from a supported country or region can send you a payment through the internet using an email address. When they send the payment, you get a You've Got a Payment email. Depending on the funding source, in most cases the funds are instantly credited to your PayPal account balance once your email address is confirmed and certain requirements are met to receive payments.
The payments you received may have fallen under those in the "depending on the funding source" category.

Ah, I found it - with a Personal acct, your ability to accept debit or credit card payments is "limited" but not so under the Premier or Business acct. There are also other services available under the other two types of accts.

Who knows how they define "limited" now. I'm glad you got lucky with yours, though!

Hhmmm. I can't say that anyone ever paid me via PayPal debit or cc. It would be invisible to me, no? I've had the acct for years, but do little buying and selling, so maybe the rules changes and they didn't grandfather it back so many years?

I can see having to have a business acct to accept a CC because there are additional fees involved.

You've been fortunate that the buyers had a balance in paypal or used a checking account to pay you.

If someone wants to pay you with a credit card you will be asked to upgrade your account,

You need to go into your account profile and set up your credit card as the default payment method, or change it before you pay, and then it will be taken out of the account you want.

That's what I figured. I don't sell any real high $$ items... nothing that would warrant a CC, IMO.

Yes, but a lot of people now put everything on their CC. Better protection that way. I had to upgrade & it wasn't a big deal.

It used to take you to the PayPal website, but now it doesn't. It goes through right on the ebay site, but takes it out of PayPal. It even has a place that says the balance is taken from your PayPal balance when there is enough, but it doesn't take it from there. At least not for me. Now, I can go to PayPal & do it through their site & it goes through the way it should. Just kind of a pain to have to do that. Wish I could explain it better.

Another question. I just started selling a few things. What does it mean when it tells me that 1 item sold is eligible for a second chance offer?? I haven't recieved payment on it yet.

What that is is this, You had multiple bids on the item, If you have another identical item you can offer the additional item to the next bidder down the list at their high bid. without having to have it listed on Ebay.

OK, thanks! I thought that's what it meant, but wasn't sure.

Only think I ever bought 8 or so items on ebay, and not for a couple years now.

Don't really bother with feedback, see no point to it. None given, things musta gone ok, eh? Why waste all the time on this issue.....

Paypal, heard too many bad things on it back when, don't mess with that either. If that's all you take in payment, I'm not bidding.

Seems like a lot of fuss about things, I can see why I haven't visited ebay very much the past few years. All rules & griping, not much actual just selling & buying?

I disagree with you. Feedback is the only way I, as a buyer, can see the "reputation" of the seller. That is important to me.

I find PayPal to be worth the fees just because of the ease of dealing with people. I hate having to wait for a check to clear, or receive a money order in the mail. When the sale is complete, I like to mail the item the next day and be done with it. Who wants to wait around for a week or two?

All rules and griping? There must be rules or those that are prone to take advantage would certainly ruin it for everyone else. I don't like to see the fees keep going up, but its the trade-off for being able to sell (read: make money on) some things that I'd either donate, give away, or have to find a local market for.

We (people in general) often pay for added conveniences. This is just one more.

The only time I left a negative FB was when the auction was closed and the seller jacked up the shipping from $35 to over $100. I contacted ebay , told the seller I wasn't interest and left them a negative FB.

They left me a retalitory FB (the only one I've received) saying i was 'hurtful'

A couple weeks later they contacted me and asked if we could mutually remove the feedback. No way!!!
