Have a teenage girl? I saw a thread on Craftster.org where a girl turned large shirts into a garment that could be either a high or low skirt (neck around waist or hips), a one shoulder out dress, a dress with both shoulders out, a dress with three-quarter length sleeves, etc etc etc. Her creativity was pretty impressive and she did it all without major alterations! In some cases she just used the excess t-shirt fabric to tie on itself to get the desired effect without sewing or cutting it at all. For example, on the skirts she used the sleeves of the shirt to tie around her waist/hips to get a neat looking skirt.

Wow thanks for the many ideals. I really liked the way Martha Stewart had that handbag made up. It looked like it would make a better tater bag then what I had dreamed up.
Thanks everyone.

not trying to bring everyone down here but,, I buried my sweet old boy today, he was a good buddy and a great cat, he was 13 y/o. I used one of those old t-shirts I put out in the truck for rags. He always came running any time I called him and was a Buddy.
I got out one of the best looking shirts I had and wrapped him in it.
I wanted him to take something that he and I shared. I know this is silly but that shirt went to a great cause.
P.S. Do not buy a cat or dog,,, they are everywhere and they are free, also, they will thank you everyday, belive me!

They are a friend when we feel like we have none. They will always keep that List Of Friends From Being Blank. If we could be a friend like that, this world would be a better place. Eddie

How very true...that is how we got 3 dogs and 2 cats so far. Sorry for the loss of your friend. He'll be sending you another friend soon, so keep your eyes open for it.

I agree with the quilt idea. My husband has more Harley tshirts than I can count. As they've gotten older and worn, I've taken the ones with pictures/logos/decals that still look nice and cut those out and used the rest for rags. This weekend I started a quilt for him out of the Harley shirts. He's pretty excited about it - and it will represent memories for him of all the states we visited to get those shirts or states that others visited and sent him a shirt from.
With other tshirts, we've used them for rags, for tying plants to stakes, and a lot of the ideas already mentioned. I really like the grocery bag or potato sack idea if the shirt is in good enough shape.
As a side note - Columbia, I am so sorry. What a nice to use a tshirt for that. We recently buried a cat that had been with us over 15 years. We wrapped and buried her in a towel that she became especially fond of laying on as she grew older. I still mourn for her. I'm sorry for your grief.

Thank you everyone for your nice words. Like I said " I do not meant to bring everyone down".
I also liked the idea about using them for cleaning guns ect. Old shirts are not real absorbent but they work great for small messes like dry cleaning hands also.

Just speaking for my self, you didn't bring me down, but my heart does go out to you and your loss of a dear friend. Many times I look at this spoiled rotten little 13 yo fice that we all love and thank God for, and know one day we will separate. It will be hard I know, but I still thank him for what time He allowed us to have this little friend. Take a look at Bearfootfarm website and click on Memory. Eddie
