18 miles east of the 101 and 26 intersection near Seaside, Oregon.

Food can't be described, must be consumed. Best. food. ever. And I've been all over the USA.

Rock Springs Cafe, in Arizona, on I-17 north of Phoenix. (Black Canyon City.) Best pies I've ever had, and just general "country cooking" type meals. It's in an 1800's-era stage coach stop and the cafe has been there forever.

If you are ever in Fort Morgan Colorado, stop at a place called "Mavericks".
Get the turkey dinner (the other stuff is great, too).

I've been drooling over all the pictures of the recipes they have there. Some good looking food there. I'm printing out some of the recipes.

Fremont Nebraska, 35 miles from Omaha, has a fine little diner that does a lovely breakfast. (I love good breakfast.) Marci's Cafe, used to be Jensen's, but has most of the same staff as before, "before" reaching into the 60s.

Right on Hwy 77, about 2 blocks north of the viaduct, west side. Parking is a bit tight, you might have to circle a bit.

I still dream about the humongous buffalo burgers, that a small drive in, in Lander, Wyoming use to make. Can't recall the name... Haven't been through there in 15 years, don't even know if there still around or not. These burgers were big as a pie plate... I kid thee not! I consider myself a professional foodie, and this mongo burger was a monster to eat... get a side order of fries, and I'd have to curl up in a cave and sleep for three days!!!

There are two restaurants in Green Bay, WI owned by the same family by the name of Kroll's. I grew up in Green Bay and have never ever eaten anything there but their hamburgers! They're wonderful-full of real butter and Kroll's sauce!

Roger mentioned that we should make a Green Bay run soon. Not to see my relatives. To eat some hamburgers!

I'll second that. One of the few places I'll still eat raw oysters.

I gotta second Johnson's corner... DH and I spent most of our courtship having coffee there almost every night. The food is excellent although a couple years back they did a remodel which made it lose the hometown diner/truckstop feel for a more sterile, modern look. However, they've got a fantastic Philly... I used to try my hardest to order something else but would always end up with the Philly.

Milkshakes from Ferdinand's Den in the Dairy Science Department at Washington State University in Pullman. The most fantastic shakes in the world. More than one shake a year is probably fatal. They are so wonderfully rich. You can also get the famous Cougar Gold cheese there.
Can't remember the name, but a wonderful diner around the corner from the Braun Hotel in Hot Springs SD. Wonderful food.

Central Dairy in Jefferson City, MO an old fashioned ice cream shop huge banana splits great place if you like ice cream, and who doesn't?

Keiths cafe, Memphis, MO a hole in the wall type place that serves great food. They serve a "steak for 2", a huge thick sirloin steak with sides, all 2 normal people can eat, for $18.00. The drinks recently went up from .50 to .60 each. Great place to eat.

Here is a Texans view, taking 35 south from Dallas to San Marcos. I will leave San Antonio alone because a web search will come up with many great eateries. I will say while in San Anton you must goto the Olmos Pharmacy.. http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Over...spx?RefID=3010

Also there are many small town just off 35 that have wonderful eateries. IF anyone has time follow some of the Texas Barb-q trail.

For Wonderful Baked goods such as Kolaches, Homemade Sausage Rolls of varied flavors, cheeses and Meat types. Oh and their sandwiches.. But we always stick with the sausage rolls.
