If you let it build it will get all shiny. There are two ways to go with that. They have deglossers fro fiberglass if you want to build a film. But just using the fiberglass to fill the pours of the wood then sanding it down will take the gloss away. Then just cover with mineral oil.

We were informed of a two part coating called bar top or bar coat. Kinda pricey at almost 60 bucks for the gallon kit. We will be trying it this weekend.

Did you coat all sides and tops and bottoms and ends of the material used at the sink? These are all points of entry for moisture and could create a problem if not sealed, somewhat like a wooden door used to the exterior of a home.
