That's what I mean! Just because a feed store (employee) says they don't carry something or they've never heard of it doesn't mean they can't get it. I think it's just ignorance or laziness on the part of the feed store to just shrug it off and that's why I say, try another store if the one you normally patronize can't be bothered.
I used to take pride in locating hard to find items and I think the customers really appreciated it. The store I worked at even put together a "special order" notebook where we would write down the request, the name/phone number of the customer, where we found it, the store's cost and the cost/mark-up to the customer. We would usually call the customer and let them know what the price would be if it was outside of what we thought the customer was willing to pay. Also, we would note the date the customer was called, letting them know the item was in, and date of pick up. If, on the rare occasions we couldn't find an item, we were supposed to call and let the customer know. Sometimes that didn't happen, but I tried to follow through on all requests.
I was recently looking for shredded beet pulp as opposed to pelleted. I stood there listening as the manager of Del's Feed Store called around looking for it. Unfortunately, it appears that form is not available in this area but I sure appreciated the extra effort he went to for me.
