Me neither.

Me neither. I can barely swim because of the few drops of water that burn my nostrils terribly. Put something up there on purpose--you've got to be kidding.

Nick and I use a neti pot. It does take a little getting used to, but it is a great help with the sinuses.

We use a mixture of canning or sea salt and bicarbonate of soda (baking soda). You can also buy the dry mixture already packaged into little pouches. We bought our pot at Walgreen's for $10. It included about 20 or 30 of the saline packets.

Someone should try a little baking soda and vinegar. That'd really clean things out.

Better yet: stick a Mento up your nose as far as you can reach and use the neti pot with a little diet coke in it. Whoooey!

I bought a stainless steel Neti pot online and use it often. I mix rather warm water with sea salt and rinse both sides out usually at night before bed. Works really well, helps with allergies, and reduces problems when working in dusty environments.

Oh, heck, you might as well have someone clock you in the back of the head with a 2x4! That stuff packs a wallop!

Give me a neti pot, thank you!

I use SinusRinse which is a squeeze bottle with a nice nostril friendly tip. It came with packets but I decided they are (per 8 oz. water) about 1/4 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt probably uniodized but I just use regular table salt.

That recipe of salt/b. soda to water can be used without burning with BIG syringe (no needle!), baby bulb/ear syringe as mamagoose does, neti pot or otehr small container (I used a one serving creamer pot for a while but no spout- so had to have nose tipped to receive) or just try snorting the stuff up. The SinusRinse kit is $10-12 at our local drug store chains. Using it has gotten me off claritin, and now I don't even need to use it daily as I did claritin- just when allergies are worse or I have a cold.

You were reading my mind to a T I also thought they were just another peat seed starter with netting around it like jiffy-pellets and hoping for a less costly one. LOL For us its 1 teaspoon of mentholatim + cup + microwave + 3min then take out of microwave, hold under nose and sm-e - l -l = no congestion. Eddie

The instructions that came with mine had the following advice. Snorting the water is not good, it can cause ear infections. Holding the mouth open wide is important to prevent the water from getting into the ears. Drying the sinus's after using the neti pot is also very important. Do not blow your nose for a while as that too will push water into the tubes that connect the ears and sinus.

I suspect this is like the NeilMed that I use. It's SO much easier to use than a neti pot. It works great!

Straight water burns like crazy! A combination of salt and baking soda will alleviate that problem.

Well, that's a whole 'nother thing you see... it's the added salt and the temperature of the water in the Neti Pot that make the difference. Honest. I get horrible headaches if I get water in my sinuses while swimming, but the Neti Pot mix doesn't burn in the least.
