I always thought I wanted to go to Tennessee and find a farm. But, trust me it is only a daydream. I am too settled in now to do any moving and besides I could not get dh to go anywhere. BUT, if you all get snow in the winter starting like now each year; I would not be interested anyway.
Haven't had a lot in the last 7-8 years. So its been unusual and all the schools are closing tomorrow allready. Far as I've been able to determine there was a time that snow was pretty regular here in TN. IT still is up around Gatlinburg but its been light the last few years. Much to the chagrin of the skiers.

Dang -
Tn gang.... enjoy the snow, stay off the roads as much as possible (there are people out there that don't know how to drive on it.)

N. N. Al might see a snowflake or two between now and morning...

Snow is very common, or it used to be very common here in TN. The plateau blocks a lot of weather headed for E TN but we have had 24" and seen temps below 0.

Snowed like mad here for a short time, just a dusting and the wind is whipping it around. 24* here now.

You must live not far from me--The snow has been small, soft flakes and coming down steadily...I can't even see Whitetop Mountain

Maybe I'll head out to Elk Garden before the snow melts...if my truck will make it

Always get some snow here in this part of Tn,but for the last couple of years it`s been less than usual.
Right now it`s 13 with - 4 wind chills. The chickens took one look outside and said NOPE we are staying in today! They are Still calling for about 9 to 13 inchs here.Only a couple of inchs blowing around so far.And work called and said don`t bother coming in this morning.

You can have our snow and our cold too.
It's warmed up to -4° here, wind chill is -20°.
Too dang cold to do anything much outdoors.

Now for a dumb question...
They close the schools for 2 inches of snow?

I'm weighing in from middle TN and we got a light dusting, very gusty winds and 17 degrees out last night at 7pm. How would I know how cold it was at 7 pm you ask......well 2 of my QUEEN goats decided it was time to have their babies. Of course they would, so far the coldest night of the winter and they pop out 5 newborns! Everyone was doing fine as of this morning

I'm just east of KY Lake and north of I-40. Light dusting, but for a while yesterday afternoon it was blowing sideways with maybe 100 yard visibility. Sunny now so snow won't stay long.

I've also heard old timers say it use to snow quite a bit (off and on) winters. Never much of an accumulation. What we get now is usually gone in a couple of days.

Got a dusting here and at noon thirty we're at a whopping 18 degrees. Feeding this morning wasn't fun, not only was it cold, the wind kept taking my breath and grabbing the hay I threw the horses and throwing it back at me! I'm gonna be picknig hay outta my hair alllll day long now at work.

My kids just went out to play in the almost melted away, barely there snow (which was really just left on the patio tabletop & my van). They were able to make 4 or 5 small snowballs to throw at each other -- but that made their day!

Brrrr... it's cold out.

Now Ice I can do without.

Someone already answered my question about how much snow you usually get, so I'll just add that it's 9 here right now with -6 windchill. We had some snow on new year's eve, not much. We had more new snow over Christmas. It's only supposed to get down to 5 tonight.

You should have been here Christmas day until yesterday...consistantly between 10 degrees above zero to -23 degrees on Christmas and New Years day! Really it's alot of fun to have your eyeballs freeze instantly after you go outside!
