Find you an old cheap 4x4 pickup and the absolutely biggest tires you can get put on it, and stop worrying about the road for a while. It won't be long before you will see some road work taking place thats not you and your DH doing it. Note: when the road starts getting a little to rough for your truck, start adding bags of sand in the bed but I think before you have to add any sand bags you will notice some road work taking place and they will gladly come back to the bargaining table.
