It's not like there is poop in the bucket!!!!! The cleaners eat it all up! There are absolutely NO STAINS on these wipes after they are washed!
You can even use bleach if you are that worried about the dirty water!!! I would not be washing a pail full of dirty water in my washing machine!
Trust me, it is not that gross!

What about the hospitals? I bet they don't throw away bed-clothes, washcloths, towels, or gowns that get a little poop on them!

What about when you wash your behind on a washcloth and then you wash your face on it?!?!

Please read my other post about washable wipes!
May God Bless You!

BTW, it my job to wash them!!!

Taking the concept of the "guest towel" to a whole other level, eh? "Joan, remember we are heading to the Clampett's on Friday, don't forget to pack a roll of paper"

The replies have to be the funniest thing i've read here at HT in a long time.

In theory, I guess it's a good idea but I'd love to see Roger's face when I would suggest it! I think I'll wait until April's Fool Day to bring it up.

i never thought of that CN. but you're right they would have to soak it in something and mere water wouldn't take the stains out.

i remember one time back in newfoundland when I tipped over my sisters chamber pot. (all we had then) I was trying to help her clean house and I'm like a whirling dervish most of the time. I was shoving the mop around and rammed it into the pot. the contents went everywhere. she nearly killed me.

I've gone through quite a bit in my time and I'm not squeamish and I have used a outhouse(have one in fact on my homestead) a sawdust toilet and I've used moss. anything I can throw away but I draw the line at washing rags.

every time one of these threads come up I get paranoid and take off the next day and buy more toilet paper. ...Georgia.

So let's review. Instead of the enviromental or cost isssues you associate with buying tissue, so far we have seem Oxyclean, Borax and Bleach recommended to clean these "enviromentally friendly" disease spreading cloths? Perhaps we should boil them for a few hours, then Irradiate them? Sorry, BUTT I'll pass....... Kill a tree, bleach it, make it into a roll of rectal wrap, deliver it from the other side of the country in a smoke spewing diesel truck, and drop it of at my local Wally World super-center. I'll be waiting for it.

Well, that a good way, for sure to expose your body to chemicals and continue to pollute the earth.
Read up on the making of t.p. It is unbelievable how much chemicals are used to bleach it out.
What do you think people did before toilet paper???
I have NEVER seen a bigger bunch of SISSIES!!!! IT'S JUST POOP!!!!!! I THOUGHT I WAS POSTING TO HOMESTEADERS HERE!!!!!

rags

I have not considered using them for pooper paper. I suppose DW might use them for liquid type, but I'l have to admit, I don't miss washing diapers. We used cloth with the idea that it was temporary. If need be though, yes for #1 and #2. We cut old flannel sheets and use them for "cloth napkins", snot rags, and general purpose. I think we have one in the shortening can for greasing bread pans. Use pinking shears for cutting them to size though! Anybody have ideas for homemade feminine supplies? More for SHTF than regular use.

Alright, let me get this straight. I only use a very little bit of cleaner. I don't use all that was listed.
These don't spread dieseases!!! I don't know why you would think that!!! How do YOU get the germs out of your washcloths, that have been used on a behind, by every person in your house. Maybe you all don't wash your behinds, don't you wonder if your behind is really clean?
May God Bless You!

I'm not a homesteader... I just use homesteader ideas to make my life of poverty more bearable.
like... growing my own turnips so I can use the extra money to buy TOILET PAPER.
lol

your using bleach, borax and soap.... those are chemicals. They pollute.
i tried to be eco friendly and use old newspaper then burn it afterwards but my butt tuned black from the ink and my woodburner chimney started smelling like a fart.

for the record I kinda like rough TP.... it scratches my itches where I fear to scratch otherwise.

I DO NOT USE bleach. I use borax, a all natural cleaner! I don't use soap either! Don't you see how eco-friendly they are? Why spend money on a newspaper if you are living in poverty?

I saved out our cloth baby wipes just for this pupose. Anyone worried about the poop can go visit a cloth diapering site and see how to clean them, you don't have to use bleach or anything if you don't want to! Yes, we use tp right now, but ya'll better not be coming over to ask for my poop rags when you run out of stored tp!!!!!!!!!!!
