They still use the hand in some places. Why do you think people always shake with the right hand? That custome came about because everyone wiped with the left so it was considered an insult to offer the left hand

Really??? I am a right hand wiper, and a right hand ,hand shaker.

I have seen many people go into a public toilet, hear them blowing the walls out, and not wash their hands afterwards. One was a meat cutter at a walmart deli. I don't buy from the deli.

It is comical, how so MANY people have dived into this subject! By now, I'm smiling wryly.

Yup. In fact that is why in some middleeastern countries when you get cought stealing and they cut your hand off it's always the right hand they cut off. That pretty much excludes the newly made ampute from eatting with others as they share food from bowls, often eatting with thier right hand. Someone who eats with thier left hand is a big and is considered dirty.

LOL....8 pages of this crap(literally).

Ah,huh,I guess I haven't given much thought to cloth wipes. I'm a regular TP user. But,I don't see anything wrong with the cloth wipes. It's the same as using cloth diapers for babies and I think that's the define best way to go.
I am a little surprised that more people on here don't use cloth. I know alot of women on here use cloth pads(glad rags, etc.) and I know that many use cloth diapers on their babies.

Whatever floats your boat

I use tp at home, but when I am out roughing it in the wilderness or climbing mountains I DO NOT use TP. Why? because I hate bagging it and carrying the used tp out and secondly because I hate hiking along a trail only to see pieces of tp all over that an animal dug up when they smelled poo and urine that someone had buried. IT DOESNT BIODEGRADE in the woods as fast as some people believe it does. So I use what is available. Sometimes its rocks, moss, twigs, leaves, snow....(Again, I don't recomend pinecones!!!)

Hey, the moss sounds like a great alternative to TP!!
It is soft enough, butt I think it would cause grass stains.

AAAHHHH No, I guess it is no different than using re-usable diapers. But since toilet paper is bio-degradable and so darn cheap I see no reason to use anything but T.P. well I guess one could argue about de-forestation here.

We have a house in Mexico and it is common practice to not flush your T.P. but to put it in a can next to the crapper. Still just as gross to me.

Cheers

Toilet paper is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive here. It is over $8.00 for a twenty-four roll pack. My famliy was using, at least 48 rolls a month.
What do you consider 'cheap'?
Hmm...I guess that would be gross seeing the used T.P. sitting next to the toilet.
You wouldn't have to deal with that if you used the cloth wipes.

That is disgusting. I've brought this up before on here only to have some defend their not washing their hands because they "don't touch themselves" which is ludicrous. Whether I've somehow miraculously not touched myself (not possible) or not I don't take chances because the next person my hands come in contact with or that handle a knob I've touched may have a low immune system.

I sell hand made cloth antibacterial wipes you can wash out and recharge with fresh clorox....
you carry them around in a mason jar half full of clorox water.

no disposable sani wipes for me, or any of that environmentally harsh sterilizer gel in a bottle stuff (thats stuffs expensive!)

Toilet paper can be one of the leading factors in sludge build-up in a septic tank. On its ability to break up, fill a jar about half full with water and put in some of your toilet paper. Shake and let settle. The best septic tank friendly will be in small pieces. The worse, of course, will still be in essentially one wad.

For the family using 48 rolls a month make a stack say four rolls, by four rolls by three rolls high. Imagine about half that mass going into your septic tank each and every month.

Years ago now one of my sisters from WI visited with another in FL. Five in group. FL sister said they went through more TP in one week than her family (3) did in a month or two.

One family I heard of kept the toilet paper outside the room. You could only take three segments in with you.

Are you just trying to start a fight? Don't think this is a bit funny trying to drag me into this after the poop bucket thing. Still think ya'll are all gross when it comes to bathroom manners.
