Where can you get snakeshot for a .38 special? Will it damage the rifling?

Well, other than a possible fried snake dinner (does one fry snake or is it a soup sorta thing?) you could have had some snake skin boots, too! Might need more than one snake, though, for boots maybe one snake is just enough for a wallet or hat band?

Any good gun shop will have it or can order it and it will NOT damage teh barrel at all. You can probably even order it online, depending on where you live, but shipping is high for ammo

Most of them cottenmouths (watermoccasin) have an attitude or PMS or something, just plain mean. I was fishing one time and got down in the bottom of the boat to go under a tree, just as I got passed the tree I raised up and my face was 6 inches from an open cottonmouths MOUTH. Ever tried to walk on the water? How about run? Them first 2 or 3 steps, I was doing pretty good, LOL Get him one of these in 410 ga http://www.tcarms.com/firearms/g2ContenderPistols.php

CCW's state laws website

cfabe - I am originally from Michigan. The state of Michigan does honor my California CCW, my brother's Arizona CCW, my sister, Dad, and best friend from High School all have Michigan CCWs. So I am legal and as a US Marine Corps veteran (how I escaped Michigan) I am a very proficient shot. I do also have a valid Michigan State ID, and could get a Michigan CCW if I have to go take care of my dad for an extended period of time if he has more medical problems in the future.

To get the laws for all 50 states on Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Go to www.packing.org. Click on State CCW laws, and go from there. Michigan will honor any other's states CCW licenses. I have talked to the Michigan State Police on this legal issue - both in Lansing HQ and in Northville with the Post Captain, at their local Detroit area Post......

One can get .38 special snake shot ammunition from on line at The Sportsman's Guide or Cheaper Than Dirt. CCI is the main manufacturer for what I have seen out there. Most gun shops should also carry snake shot...

Hey I have one of them for sale with three barrels, one being the .410/.45 Colt barrel (top barrel in the photo below).

My ad has been removed from the Barter Board. PM me if you're interested.

CF - you may be asking a bit much more, than they would be willing to spend for a pistol. I drooled on your listing for the T-C with the aluminum case..... But I don't have the large amount of cash you are asking for that Thompson-Center pistol with 3 barrels...

That's why I mentioned a hoe...its very effective against snakes,& considerably easier to use.

They live in Mississippi! Everyone has a gun in Mississippi, don't they? LOL!

From all the shooting that was going on this past Saturday I think that's fairly likely RW! Sounded like a war zone outside.

Seems like a good idea to carry a snake stick a little longer than any snake you are likely to meet. That would mean Texican needs a 12 foot saplin'...Glen

BTW, we are both experienced with handgun use. My Daddy was a gunsmith and he had us kids out practicing with various handguns from the time we were old enough to hold one up and aim. Hubby won shooting competitions in college. He needs a handgun!
I had a friend who killed a rattlesnake with a coke bottle. Good thing it was on the road near the hospital. He barely made it there in time.

As far as snakes go, I carry a double barrel .410 derringer, in my river boating/canoe gear, nothing worst than having a water moccasin charge you, or drop off the over hanging branches.

Shoots standard .410 shotgun loads, home protection loads,(three 000 buck in each shell, .410 slugs, as well a .45 long colt.

How does the derringer shoot. Is there much kick with the .410 shells?

Oh yes, you want to hang on.
But I guess if it's snake or me, I can put up with it.
The .45 long colts are not very accurate, as you might imagine, but would also do the job, close up.
