Many people think just because a dog has a particular trait by nature, that they will do it right out of the box with no training. There are exceptions to this rule, but any dog needs to be trained to do something. They might pick something up faster because it's a trait of their breed, but it's not a voucher for no training needed. The more time you spend on them, the better they will be. At the same time, if you spend little or no time on them, don't expect much, or fault the dog for not doing something. Believe me, I have had dogs all my life. Take the time, spend it with them, train them and you'll be rewarded for many years.

if you get a dog for the outside get it when its a pup that way it will grow up with your daughter and wont hurt her. i wouldnt trust a new full grown dog with a child you have no idea what it might do, big or small one.
