Quit quibbling and put up game cameras. You should be able to catch the guys in action and have hard proof of who did it.

ID on a tire setting in a garage or thrown away will not help any in telling what 4 wheeler did the damage.

I was thinking about the game camera's also. I would think they would be easy enough to hide and get some hard proof. I would be pretty upset if this were my field. Sure would be nice to see a post here that you caught the buggers!

Open season on them. It should be open year round. If you find one on your property then shoot the noise, rut making thing and drag it off to the salvage yard. Bet after one or two were shot the rest would stay away. Sam

I detest recreational ATVers, dirt bikers, snowmobilers, etc. Yes, there are some who are responsible but too many have damaged too much of our property, nearly run us off the road, raced by at high speed in the middle of the night waking us up, destroyed our mountain woods road water bars, smashed the windows in our out buildings, left open gates, cut fences, destroyed trees, etc to be able to accept them. These people generally come from the city and think this is the wide open space where nobody lives and they can do what ever they want. It's our home. Grr...

Maybe this will help eliminate the B---holes who ride them.

And why should farmers and ranchers, many who use ATV's every day, be required to buy a permit because of the irresponsible idiots?
Please explain exactly how would me or any other farmer/rancher buying yet another permit, "help eliminate the B---holes who ride them"??
Around here we have trouble with people in 4wd jacked up pickup trucks doing much the same things as pictured above.
Whadda you think, should we outlaw 4wd pickups? Oh, by the way they are licensed, but doesn't seem to help much.

it seems to me that enforcing the - already existing - laws against criminal trespass and destruction of personal property is plenty in this case. You've just got to get some hard evidence.

In MN all ATVs must be registered even if they never leave your property. I think this came from the ATV groups wanting to artificially boost the numbers they use to lobby the legislature for more trails. The money from the registration of private property utility ATVs gets thrown into the ATV account and does nothing to benefit the people who paid into the account.
Also, in MN the ATV/snowmobile/mudder truck/dirt bikers siphon off money from the gas tax account. The theory is that since they can't ride on the roads the gas tax they pay whenever they fill up their machines should be refunded. The same thing may be happening with the federal gas tax account but I can't say for sure.
