I thought that I had said as much up in post #16.

Perhaps I said it in a manner that made it difficult to understand by those in the profession.

Thank you.

I would recommend that everyone interested in marketing a property to become familiar with this link's information.

Since it has been going on since even before the internet came along, I should have thought that more realtors would have been familiar with it.

In other topics, realtors give the impression of being very well informed of their industry. I wonder why there appears to be such a lack of general knowledge among real estate 'professionals' of this aspect of the real estate market.

Thank you for the link. Learned something today. Made it worth while to get up.

On agents, keep in mind it is a quite high turnover occupation. One is simply good at it or not as a primary source of income. Most of the realty agents I know have a second source of family income. Sometimes all a broker (agency owner) needs is a warm body to bring in prospects and they guide them through the process as needed.

I have read articles on 'listers' who specialize in putting listings on MLS, but who then do very little on the sale end. They are happy with their portion of any commission on final sale. They may show 'millions of dollars in sales', yet have done very little actual selling.

Thanks for the updates on MLS updates etc. The ones setup mainly for real estate brokerages sound like you still have to sign a contract. And it does sound like a good deal -- $400 will pay for a large chunk of MLS membership. It is the sellers name and number in the listing or that of the brokerage? Sounds like a great way to get possible new buyers for the agency too.

Marlene

P.S. Note: I have not been a real estate agent in over 15 years.

When I sell my properties it is the listing agents name and number that's on the MLS listing. In the agent comments my number is listed. They do put their sign out front with their number, if a prospective buyer calles the Brokers number or the listing agents number they are referred to me.
