I agree that 'Un-organized Townships' are the best.

Maine has 414 UTs. The majority of Maine is in UTs.

'Organized Towns' [though they are often reported as being 'dis-organized'] make up a minority of the state, and carry the greater tax burden.

And zoning, and code inforcement officers, and all those other folk who live on municipal funds, .....

So far so good. Put blankets over the rabbit hutches today. We usually bring them in the shed but since we moved..no more shed at the moment. I am hoping the blankets will help insulate them. The hutches have houses and alot of hay, the blankets are for the 14 degree weather coming and to help block the wind.
The area where we live is nice..rural residential they call it... 2 horse boarding places and 5 cow/goat farms within 3 miles. But they seem pretty commercial, not a true farm type thing more for money making purposes. Horse boarding place nextdoor but haven't met the owners. I guess from what we understand everyone around here keeps to themselves. We actually haven't met any of the neighbors or anyone in the area. Then again the fact the prior owner was here almost 40 years and this was a private sale. (No signs or anything) They may not have figured out we bought it..They may think we are only visiting or something. They soon will see that we are here to stay. They also will learn that we are not ones that are for the city life. We think even where we moved now there are too many people LOL
We are finally finding out what it means to sit and be a family again. Rather then the same old fast paced rat race of where we were in Massachusetts.
Still moving in furniture and taking things in baby steps. Mainly because we only have mine and husbands hands to get the heavy things in and he works 10-12 hours a day. Hard to see to move in the dark LOL
But so far we are loving it here.

Marsh

rabbits, chickens, goats, sheep, hogs: all do well here without any heat provided.

So long as they have a wind break and they are sheltered from wet; they should be fine.

Goats are more sensitive to drafts, but the rest really aren't so much.

I hope you enjoy your move. We were from MA and made the move - unfortunately not to Maine. For us lack of jobs (we wanted to be way up),
etc. made us look at other options.
