If someone were building a log home, they could use it as a ridge pole.

For a 40+ ft home, that tree would be ideal!! If it is good shape still.

Check out this restaurants Ridge Pole!!

As secretive as you are, just make firewood of it - maybe at night, so no one can catch you at it!

Single trees are real cool for maybe folks like others on this site. More hassle than they are worth to 'real' wood people. So, if you don't want to talk to any interested private parties, I don't think you will get far with the professional outfits.

Pine for firewood? I guess if thats all you got.... definitely kindling.

The portable sawmill manufacturers usually keep lists of thier owners, and might be able to give you some references.

I have trees like that that die or blow over..... and when they do, I buck em into sawlog lengths and carry them to the local bandsaw mill, and make lumber out of them. My sawyer will tell me if there's lots of checking... if there is, he switches from 1x12's to 4x6's or the other beam sizes I currently need.

It will have almost zero value to any commercial operator...like others have said, it'll cost more to come out and load than the tree is worth.

If you know a scrounger (like me ), call them, and they'll come out and haul the tree off for you... and usually haul off the limbs and damaged wood, as payment for the 'good wood'.

If you call a tree service, you're looking at a couple hundred bucks for them to come out and haul it off.

Four hundred, and they want to leave the wood here, although they'll throw it over the hill for us. I could do that myself.

But I have found a local tree maven who acts as a sort of clearing house for this kind of thing, and owns a portable sawmill as well. That should work.

Thanks to the folks who had helpful suggestions, and to the rest---get a life, will you?

Here's a helpful suggestion

1) Click "UserCP" in upper right
2) Click "Edit Profile"
3) Be creative with "Location"

Triff ..

Why would you want to exclude us? Are you angry with us? You might live just down the road from one of us who is in the lumber business.

Most of us have a great life, sweetie. We don't need to hide from anyone or anything.
