I could split 5 cords of ash or cherry or maple or oak by the time I could split one cord of sycamore. It's one of my favorite trees to look at but I don't have a clue what you might use its wood for...have never worked with any, (other than trying to split it for firewood). If someone GAVE me sycamore logs (that needed splitting), I'd say, "Thanks anyway".

We're only going to use the smaller limbs for firewood. Hubby splits Elm so he is familiar with splitting difficult trees. We do want to use the trunk for a table and benches though. A good outdoor stain, as Rocky Fields suggested, should make it okay for use on the back porch or in a gazebo (if I ever get one).
