Capsaicin, the the component of peppers that makes them HOT is both alcohol and fat soluble.

So to remove it's presense, you need to wash with either alcohol or something with fat in it.

Milk works, not because it is dairy, but because it contains fat (I would not use skim milk). Butter, oil, and such will also work.

If you are eating the hot stuff, the chemical counteractant to your taste buds will be sugar which actually neutrallizes it on your taste buds. I cannot say it will neutralize it on your hands.

Drinking milk or beer will also quench those fires.

when i worked in the woods and got covered in pine pitch i used peanut butter....it takes the oil off...so it should work for the oil in the peppers...give it a try...good luck

I keep disposable gloves around to wear when I'm picking hot peppers. I made the mistake of getting it into my eyes once and I learned my lesson. Talk about pain...

My Granny always rubbed butter onto any type of burn and although alot of people don't agree,it does help the pain!
