Some great plans there FM. What is the program that you are using for the plans/elevations/3D images?
Some parts of them look like my very old Broderbund program, but I can't upload my plans here. (Somebody advised me to print my plans, then scan them as j.peg images to be uploaded to photobucket - seems to be a tortuous route though.)

One thing you want to consider when building any home, especially one in the cooler climates is to have your "warm rooms," such as a kitchen, or a room with a fireplace/woodstove, located on the north side of the house. During the winter months, the rooms that are facing north will be the colder, and if you design your home to have these rooms on the north side, it will reduce your heating costs.

I'm with you, I want the sunshine in my main living areas and the bed/bath rooms on the north side.

I don't have a scanner but I've doodled several small plans. I'm always trying to see what I can come up with (while keeping costs as minimal as possible) for our family of four.
Our previous home we owned was just under 900sq ft. and we had several areas of wasted space in it that drove me nuts. I think I can get us happily into 800sq ft. range and have everything we desire.

Anyone know of any free design your own home plan thingamajigs so I can post my ideas?
