this is the total gov't spending as percent of GDP, but it doesn't tell you who pays it.

has a "Global Comparison of Tax Burden" for several income levels, and for single and married w/2kids categories. Looks like it's only income tax and social security equiv, not sales/VAT taxes, and not property taxes.
