Oh yeah, I forgot to add that while the clutch was fine, the gas pedal and the brake pedal were so small and so close together, that it required the development of precision motor skills to keep from mashing them both when wearing boots.

A used Geo Tracker (same as Suzuki Sidekick) is a very cheap 4x4, although a bit larger than a Kei truck. Parts are everywhere for these. These are Suzuki powered.

The Suzuki Samurai was actually a Kei truck modified for the North American market - lengthened, widened and with a larger engine. These were actually available in a "pickup truck" version.

Both the above are far cheaper than a Kei truck - with parts that are far more available and affordable.

If you look at the specs (wheelbase, width, etc.) of the Tracker/Sidekick/Samurai and compare them to imported Kei trucks, the specs are very similar. The Tracker family actually has quite a bit more ground clearance - almost 11" as opposed to 6". The Kei trucks would be more fuel efficient, since they have a much smaller engine.

Parts are never a problem guys. We have 2 huge suppliers here in the US for used or new parts and an endless supply in Japan. The US suppliers have a super fast turn around time. Been getting my orders delivered within 48 hours, sometimes faster!

www.EastTexasMiniTrucks.com

...and let me correct ...AJ was correct ...they get 40 to 50 kpg not mpg, which is 30 to 35 mpg. sorry.

NoClue you are correct. I never sell my customers who are over 6'2" a regular cab mini truck. Always steer them towards an extended cab mini or a 4 door. 6" to 8" more cab room in the extended cabs.

comfortablynumb your 85' Nissan 4x4 is a great truck. My neighbour has one. Luv hittin the mud in that ride. But he likes my mini when it comes time to hit the deer lease and driving the ATV trails thru the wood. His Nissan is a little to wide and long for the trails.

Also we offer a 3 year unlimited mile warranty on every truck we sell.

Thanks,
Colin

littlebird, If you can licence a kei truck in Canada, would you have any problems when driving it across the border into the U.S.?

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I don't think I'd knowingly drive something into the U.S. that wasn't legal for everyone else to drive there. Doesn't seem like a great idea. I'd bet good money they'd pull the thing apart from stem to stern at the border though. Especially if it was painted camo!

We can tell Deer season is getting near ....truck sales have really picked up the past few weeks. We plan to import a few extended cabs on our next load due to arrive in October. Please pass the word to any tall guys looking for a mini truck.

Thanks,
Colin

Around here they license golf carts to drive on roads in communities... why couldn't this thing be licensed???

Watchout for those $3500 or less cheapies. those are usually over 20 years old and might only be a 2wd. All our trucks are 1990 or newer, all 4wd, all less than 85,000 miles, and grade 3.5 or better (on a grading scale of 1 to 5, 5 being premium grade). We offer 3 year unlimited mile warranty on all trucks we sell. Don't get stuck with junk!

Thanks,
Colin

In Texas I know you can get them licensed as farm vehicle and drive them on farm to market roads and county roads. Just need an orange triangle in the back window. Every state is probably different.

Thanks,
Colin

So if they rock so much, where specifically can I look at them in Western WA?????

Kinda hard to sell stuff like this if people can't look at them in person...

Try http://www.cape-ape.com/. They are in Oregon and I believe closest to you. I haven't found any links for WA.
