My choice is based on the fact that a machete is a common working tool in Mexico and all points South. I've been using heavy, medium length models from Brazil that sharpen and hold a good edge and sell for about $4.00 at the local surplus store. I always add a bright orange handle wrap so I can find them. Also not a bad security weapon for a lady real estate agent showing rural property alone...Glen
