speaking of barrels and water storage.. I wanted a wiskey barrel for to make a rain barrel out of. We found a local guy that sold them and went down to check them out. He told us that the way you check for water tightness is to roll them and see if they still have liquor inside. We picked a VERY sloshy one and definitely came out on the good end of the deal!

We bought lidded 55 gallon drums that road paint came in. $7 a pop. Washed them out with a pressure washer, let them air dry a month in the sun to drive off the solvents, and rock n roll. Barrels are the way to do your feed!

MB, after you drain the liquor, put a gallon of hot water in it and roll it around some more, and you'll have another batch of hootch. The Jack Dainel plant is just up the road from me, that's what workers there do!

MB, If you want a gallon of perfectly good whiskey for the price of that barrel & 2 gallons of distilled water, PM me. I just sweated out some wonderful Buffalo Trace.

For feed storage, try finding an old chest-type freezer that no longer works. I've used those for years for grain storage and you can usually find them "free for the hauling" ...

We can buy chest freezers from the recycler for $5. I'm using mine unplugged for feed storage this summer.
