My wife licked a small amphibian once.

It took hours to get the prince out of the tree.

Our German Shepherd Dog eats frogs like there's no tomorrow.

When he eats too many too fast he pukes them up and you can still see the legs in the pile. He gobbles them back down (oh, GROSS) and they stay.

Ick ick ick ick ick.

Yeah. I'll have to draw the line there.

There is some state, I believe Colorado, in which frog licking is against the law so it must either be good for you or very enjoyable.

I can't imagine several convicts in jail discussing why they are there and one admits his crime was licking a frog. I think I would have to lie rather than admit the truth.

I don't know about frogs, but on DS's 6th grade class trip to nature camp the counselor dared the kids to lick a slug. Said the slug mucus would make his tongue go numb. DS didn't lick it directly, but he touched the mucus and then licked his finger and he said it did make his tongue numb. \\YUCCH!

Wonder who was the first one to decide to lick a slug and, more important, why did they ever have a desire to lick a slug in the first place?

I know toads will make them sick and foam at the mouth--like they have rabies! Ours was sick for about two hrs.

A slug is just a snail without a home. Many people enjoy eating snails. Even some who are not French. I am not one of them.

Snails aren't bad eating when they broil them in butter. Of course, most everything tastes good broiled in butter.

A dog ain't picky about what it eats. I used to have one that thought the clumps in kitty litter were chocolate and would chow down, crunchies and all. Didn't help his breath any. He lived about 4 years and would eat dang near anything he could fit in his mouth, or at least taste it. He finally met his end trying to herd a Ford pickup on the highway.

Don't know about frog lickin or toad likin, but I do have word that there are some toad suckers down to Conway, make them a whole festival out of it. No wonder the Mrs. wanted to leave Fayettville.

Well, the dog will eat his own vomit and dung, will sniff the private parts of every other dog comes into contact with, and will lick his own private parts at the most embarassing times, so don't see why a little ol tree frog should cause him any discomfort. But apparently it can! Go figure!

If you look around the net, toads can kill dogs, not sure about frogs. My two always left them alone, but a month ago my youngest springer attack a toad & I couldn't get her away. The toad would jump, she would catch it in her mouth, spit it out & lick her lips as if it was horrible and then it would happen again. She must have grabbed that toad in her mouth 8 times before I got her away. I knew they were toxic, but didn't get too worried. About an hour later she was drooling & threw up twice. THEN I read how she could have seizures or that the toad poison acted like heart medicine and could kill! Luckily she was OK by later that night, not dopey or foaming at the mouth anymore. I would hate to see a small dog eat a large toad though.

I would have to say that the frog made the dog sick. I had a cat that we thought was dieing - puking, foaming at the mouth, laying in his own excrement etc. I took him to the vet I worked with and he said that he probably "licked" a toad. He prescribed some antibiotics to get rid of the toxins. It took the cat about a week to fully recover and become his old self. We did find several lg brown toads around the flower beds so I'd have to agree that's what caused it.
