I remember a good while back these two guys came up with this bright idea to break this dog from chasing cars. One drove the pickup slow by the house and the other one lay in the back with a bamboo fishing pole, when he heard the dog running and barking beside the truck, he stood up and hit the dog with the pole. Everything went well till he hit the dog, then the dog ran under the truck and the rear wheel ran over the dog almost throwing the guy in the back out. After a few days of soreness the dog was ok, and he was broke, never chased another vehicle. But, I Would Not Advise that Method

I put the shoe on the other hoof today. When I went by, I acted just as normal. As soon as those front paws hit the gravel, I kissed up a canter, spun around and took after them, chased them across the lawn, past the house and back into the timber. I knew all that team penning and sorting would pay off one day even if it never paid off on jackpot night. Yeah, I was trespassing but I doubt I'll hear a complaint. They were quite mannerly on my return trip. I still carry the pepper spray with me but it won't hurt my feelings if I die of old age and never learn whether it will work or not.

And when my momma got done whipping me, it hurt a heck of a lot longer than a second or two although I don't think she was cruel at all. I think she cared enough to force me to conform to appropriate behavior for my benefit as well as other's around me whether it was what I wanted to do or not.

I'm not going to lose sleep if those dogs wind up hurting all day long if I only need to do it once and solve the problem. There is a lot of folks that ride around here on the weekends and a bunch of them are beginners and kids. That is one of the main reasons I want the problem stopped. That and it is just a hassle I don't feel obligated to tolerate.

Be aware that if you shoot a dog with any gun you can be prosecuted for cruelty to animals in most locals... I would not suggest it.

In my County and most all other locals
ARTICLE II. ANIMAL CRUELTY
Sec. 6-41. General care; prohibited acts.

h. Shooting a dog, either on or off of the owner's property, unless the dog is in
the act of chasing or attacking a human being, horse, hog, goat, poultry, any
other domestic animal or sheep or cattle.

Not unless I had to but I wouldn't hesitate if needed, I'd still go through the Sheriff first.....being handed a ticket with $fines$ gets the point across well
