He can't be any worse than a Marine Drill Insructor. Take the job. At least you have the option to quit.

Take the job. Some of the smartest folks I've met in my life were grumpy like that. Look at the size of his operation.....it didn't get there on it's own. If you are the type that has to have constant feedback and a pat on the head for your work, you will probably be dissappointed. Give an honest days labor for an honest days pay and you will earn his respect. He may never give you a hug for your work but some of my greatest rewards have been a pat on the back and a smile from one of those old codgers.....
