someone mentioned the 40 something inch vizio this is a nice tv but last i checked it is not full HD.
note there are several levels of HD
720p
1080i
and 1080p
1080p is the highest HD resolution available.
if you are buying new I wouldnt get an HD tv unless it was 1080p
get at least 2 hdmi ports more is always better
hdmi ports and the new plug in that handle high bandwidth traffic and only one cord for both video and audio and its digital so its the highest thing visually.
composite is second
and regular old rca jacks are last

this topic made me think I was on the wrong site. Somehow a large screen tv and homestead, just don't belong together

Stony---where my dh goes there will always be a lg. tv! If he had the money he would have one the size of a theater with surround sound! He loves his tv and likes it loud. QB

Yuppers that is the only way to go. The larger the better and for sure Sound surround. I have Dolby Digital 7.1 (expandable to 8.1) sound surround and watching DVDs are just like going to a theater even though I do not have a wide screen Hi def TV yet but I sure have the sound system I am getting the system in stages so I don't have to outlay mega bucks at one time
My Sub Woofer is 12 inch powered one I can rattle the windows and you can feel the vibration on the floor and in your chair~!
The back of my stereo receiver looks like a spaghetti factory

After getting a bstv, I no longer have to suffer through a movie at the cinema. I might get out once a year to watch a movie, and then I'm so disgusted for the longest time (people, cell phones, babies, tall people, and bad viewing angles, and did I mention... people), and can't wait to get back home to my own home cinema, with the wide screen and cinema sound system.

Surround system

The surround sound, systems with the POWERED woofers are excellent.

We have connected an INexpensive computer type system, with a powered sub woofer (if that is correct term) at the homestead -- it is fantastic. It is better than the two (2) other surround systems we have in Vancouver.

When you get your BIG TV get a sound system too, IMHO.

Enjoy, though we do NOT miss the darn TVs when we do NOT watch it for months at a time. TV sucks my attention away when I have one (or two) around, and when I don't have them I am just fine.

Enjoy, if you have to,

Alex

We've had very good results with the Sharp Aquos line ..

http://www.sharpusa.com/products/Typ...56,s77,00.html

If you sit less than 15 feet from your TV
the 32" and 37" sets are about as large as you'll need/want
