When I worked as a vet tech, we were always extra careful around the little "ankle biter" dogs, because you never knew when one was going to try to take a piece out of you. And they could do some serious damage, too. One of the techs had to have stitches because of a toy poodle. Nasty little thing...

My vet says the last kind of dog he wants to see come through the door is a Cocker Spaniel.

Yeah. A lot of them are snappy, plus they often have leaky bladders. So they can nail you from both ends -- teeth and whizz -- at the same time.

There are good dogs and bad dogs in every breed.

Let me word it differently.

It has been my personal experience that the smaller dogs tend to be more high-strung than larger breeds.

Still, you have to be careful with ALL dogs, even the ones who appear to be nice, because you just never know, especially when a dog is out of his element.

Sorry that I offended you.

We received a similar letter from Metlife after filing ONE claim. Our house was broken into and robbed 2 weeks before Christmas several years ago and they would not renew our policy. We had our auto with them (for 20 years) and had renters with them before buying our home. ONE claim. I was so mad.

Anyway, they also would not cover anyone with a trampoline or certain types of dogs.
