Pixel, may I ask where abouts you live? Not asking a street address, just kinda a location in the USA.

One of my favorite seed selling places does sell op corn, but I don't know of any who actually grow it. I am sure some around me do, but hybred corn in this part of the world is so much better it is diffuclt to justify using op corn any more. Some do for silage I believe is the biggest use 'round here. As I hear it.

In my area 175-225 bu/ acre is what one should aim for. OP is closer to 100/bu an acre. Some of it is pretty leafy tho, & silage yield comes close - I hear, tho don't really know anyone who grows op corn.

I can understand the issue in areas that grow op.

Terminator seems to be a dead issue (pun intended....) as it didn't work well enough to move forward with. However new research is always just around the corner....

Can you use hybred corn in organic situations? Would think that would be within the rules, but I'm not sure.

I live in Middle Georgia and have some land in New Mexico as well and in Florida. I know a few people in New Mexico also using open pollinated corn as well. And over the boarder in Mexico almost all is OP corn as they don't allow GMO seed. I'm not sure if its a law or just a rule. I'm thinking its a law as they want to keep their genetic strains as pure as possible down there.
I would have to go back thru the organics rules but I believe you are allowed to use hybrids, but not GMO. If you are I personally dont use them I try to get everything OP and heirloom as much as possible. That is one thing I do to differentiate myself from others.
I order alot from seeds of change
johnnys select only their Organic line
Peaceful Valley
and many others.
