Yes the splitter will work in the reverse direction.

Use one that is a VHF/UHF splitter.

A normal splitter will work but has 3db loss and doesn't act as a filter on the U/V inputs so it's possible that the VHF-UHF antenna's U signal could interfere with the UHF antenna you have.

The outside antenna should work much better than an indoor one. I have seen outdoor antennas installed so the connection is only to VHF elements. The UHF side is much much more sensitive to aiming. Have you tried to rotate the antenna?

Haven't tried to rotate the antenna because I'd have to get on the roof. The reception is great if I use the two different antennas. The VHF/UHF signal splitters I've seen have screws for wire hook-ups and my lines coming from the outside antenna and the inside UHF antenna are the screw in kind, I'll get a regular splitter and try it.

Google "PICO UVSJ" you should find a number of sources (can't recommend any of them tho) selling a UHF VHF Splitter Joiner for a couple of bucks.

Thanks idahodave. I didn't know what to look for before. I found several when I did the search you suggested.

I bought a 27 in digital tv from walmart last year. 250 with tax but they have another 27 in model for 205. built in digital tuner. can also receive analog signals. just hooked it up to the same antenna in my attic the old analog tv has used (and died after 19 years of use).

fantastic picture, as good as cable (better from what I've read since cable companies compress signals). I was told you either get a crystal clear picture or nothing. that there was no in between. that isn't true. one channel is on the north side of indy and I lose it easily if it rains. it starts looking blocky the same way cable or satellite does when it goes out before it completely disappears.

beautiful picture and like I said it receives both analog and digital. great price. have read you need to be within 50 miles of tower.

I can get more channels here than at my old house. A my old place I could get 2 channels with the antenna and here I can get 7, 9 if the weather is right or whatever. At least I don't have to pay for cable or sat. Chris

If that is Ontario Canada - you can setup a satellite system and get the U.S. Dishnetwork service for free - hundreds of video and music channels.

I was actually just about to make a post about something like this but I imagine it is safe to just ask here.
I also experience better pictures at different times of year and such. It's frustrating. I don't like climbing up on the roof to turn it.

Everyone at radioshack here(which is where I bought my antenna) told me to point it west, towards tulsa. I barely get anything when I face it in that direction. I get more channels when I point it east. lately I've kept it south and I get a little of both.
I had asked the guys there once if I had two antennas, one pointing in each direction, would I be able to get most or all of those channels. The pretty much told me it wouldn't be worth it... I've since seen a setup like that and the person told me it worked for them.
So, what do you all think? Should I get another antenna to mount above the on I have and have one face east and one face west?
Thanks

Very slim chance this would work. Why? The east antenna probably receives some west signals and vise versa for the west antenna. When the two are combined the signals from the "backward" antenna will degrade the good signal from the antenna pointed in the right direction. This might work if you can only see the west signals on the west antenna and east signals on the east antenna. You would also need to use a combiner that has 3 db loss so antenna amplifiers would be needed. A much simpler solution would be to run a separate line from the second antenna and use an antenna switch at the set.

This was posted before, but you can use the antenna selector web site that gives a list of stations and antenna headings by zip code or street address at antennaweb.org to find out what stations you should expect to see at your location.

thanks for that link. I tried finding a list like that before and never could. That was perfect. I already knew approximately which way to point my antenna to get the ones listed, but now I know precisely which direction. Of course, there's a few I can sometimes get that weren't exactly on the list.

Thanks for the info. What if they weren't pointed in opposite directions? Would there still be some signal loss? Like maybe if one was pointing southwest and the other was pointing southeast? Just curious.

Here is a link to an antenna that I built back in the early 80's... it surprised me how well it worked!
