I just bought the new Mother Earth Homes magazine for Summer '07 without looking too closely at it (I primarily buy it for the building stuff anyway, and agree that the majority of the rest of the mag isn't worth much). Anyway, come to find out, it's just reprints of a bunch of other articles I had already read in the regular magazine. Worst part is that it's all stuff from the past year. If they had put in articles from the 70s, 80s and 90s, I would have been happy with the $5 I paid for it. But there were articles from the last two issues! I wish I hadn't bothered.

I mostly read Backwoods Home and The Backwoodsman now, and occassionally Countryside.

I actually read about it in the National Enquirerer. The original MEN article was very interesting and stuck in my mind so when I saw a picture on the front of The National Enquirerer and a headline about it, I was naturally curious. It did not say that there was a direct connection, but the National Enquirer article did offhandedly mention that they were featured in an edition of a "Popular American Magazine".

It was very unfortunate that this happened. it goes to show how, either with dogs or guns or both, we all need to be able to protect ourselves from the forces of evil.

We subscribe to MEN and I enjoy it, especially Barbara Pleasant's gardening articles.

I prefer Backwoods Home - love Love LOVE Dave Duffy, John Silviera and of course Jackie Clay. DH likes Ayoob's firearm articles too. Backwoods Home is full of amusing and useful information, we think, and the magazine has a great "family" feel to it, like you're reading letters from your cousins and uncles.

Yes, They offer the back issues on CD..They are broken into decade sized CD's...ie,70's;80's etc...THE CD's are worth their weight in gold...I have them, was my last years Bday present...I have all the first 30 years on CD...I agree about the magazine lately...I am really considering not buying it anymore .....The magazine is not worth but the CDs are......Mike
