I know you are probably surprized, but no I cannot understand that idea. The examples earlier about the water from the hose are good demos, but pressure in the hose pushes the water out of the hose, kill the pressure the water stops. The one about spitting off a cliff, gravity pulls it to earth. What you are saying about the light is its traveling through space with nothing pushing or pulling and its been zillions of years since the source was present. I will say that science is not always correct with a theory, but neither am I. My wife is the one from Missouri, but in this case Im the one who must be shown. Seeing with my eyes without having to take someones word. It is interesting though.

What gets me is how much empty space is out there. In order for us to see a star 200 million light years away, there cannot be anything between us and that star. 200 million light years of nothing.

Its almost like if scientist were to anounce the story about the cow jumping over the moon is true. That the cow jumped 2 zillion years ago and wont get back till 2 zillion years in the future. None of us were here when the cow left and will not be here when she returns, but they point to a small dot in space and convince most people thats the cow. They know when she left and what time she will be checking back in. To bad no one will be here to greet her on her return!

Don't worry, it will all still work without you.

the water one is good, imagine those sprinklers that spit out little bits of water around in a circle over the lawn...

the sprinkler has finished pushing the water out (and moved onto the next spurt) but the water is still in the air until it hits the ground

light doesn't need a force behind or ahead of it to move, once its been emitted it just goes onward until it loses enough power to be undetectible

i wasn't trying to get at you, i just didn't wanna be explaining it over and over if you were just joking

FoolishDreamer - yes it absolutely fantastic isn't it, takes a lot to wrap your mind around it all

Eddie, light is a form of radiation, like heat is. A stove gives off heat, but there is nothing "pushing" the heat out. Light from a sun works the same way.
