My mom's homemade pear preserves. But it's been about 12 years.

Now it's fig preserves.

Wild black raspberry jam is my all time favourite and very difficult to get the berries. Second place is wild blackberry jam.

Hi all,
I'm new here, but thought I would join in. I make a lot of black raspberry and elderberry jelly. This year it might be all I get. Seems like the cold snap has ruined the cherries, apples, peaches, etc. I did plant some blackberry bushes this year and a blueberry bush so I am hoping that next year will be a better jelly year.

I made up a batch of strawberry kiwi jam earlier and because it is so chilly here today I have had the windows shut so up stairs in the bedrooms will smell like strawberries when we head up stairs tonight. I love that about jam making! !
I am not a sweet-lover by nature and a (small) jar of jelly has been known to last me a couple of years. My favorite, however is hot pepper jelly. I got a jar about a year ago and it is 1/2 done now. Other than that Apricot isn't bad.

Blueberry. No, strawberry. But maybe blackberry jelly....or peach. Strawberry rhubarb is delicious but then, so is raspberry. Cranberry. Ok, that's it. It's cranberry. I don't think I've ever had a homemade preserve I didn't like.

Apple butter or apple jelly, or maybe strawberry. Yum! I'd like to try that strawberry-rhubarb jelly since I've so much rhubarb here.

I love hot pepper jelly with pretzels...

And tomato jelly on lunch sandwiches when tomatoes are out of season.

This year I want to try some dandelion flower jelly before those blooms are gone... I'm not sure what it will "go" best with?

We're sure that every jelly out there is the best, once you figure out it's perfect mate... they all seem to have one -
mint jelly and lamb, for instance.
Apple butter and pork....
Blackberry is perfect mixed in cream cheese
Strawberry with sour cream for the cheese blintzes
Lingonberry with swedish meatballs...

Elderberry, grape, blackberry, strawberry... just about any homemade jelly or jam is good. I love making jelly and having the smell all through the house. Coming home from school and smelling the jelly grandma was making is one of my favorite memories. I think that is one of the reasons I enjoy making it myself. Makes a great comfort food.

Nothing in my experience even comes close to the flavor of Wild Chokecherry Jelly!

Apricot, then strawberry. A couple years ago I made a red currant/guava that was very good (currants from the neighbor, guave nectar from the store).

So far, my favorite is seedless red raspberry. However, our currant and gooseberry bushes look like they're going to produce a bumper crop this year, so I might get to try making some from those (that is, if there is any left after making the wine!).
