moi? a little crazy? .... when have you known me to not give 100%?

LaDonna, before we pick a time (the place just has to be Buffalo Point, because most of us missed out right?), I really would like a great deal of input on ideas on what others wish to take part would like to take place over the weekend.

If we can get enough people interested, I would like to invite the Herb Lady to come do a walk or demo or both. But since she does this for a living, we need enough interested to make it worth her while.

There is also group of "mind and body" people who might be interested in giving us some ideas for our lives too -- they too do it for a living.

Blue gecko could do chair massages, but since this is her livelihood, maybe we could schedule times with her with funds being offered?

I'd also like another opportunity at a lesson in spinning, weaving, cheese making, soapmaking, and dutch oven cooking. Not to mention knife sharpening, hide tanning, or any of the other skills that are traditional to homesteading. I would like the lessons to be kid friendly

If we wish to stick with our "a family gathering" we need to take the thoughts and feelings of people's with children idea on what is and what is not family friendly...I wish to hear from these folks.

If need be, we can plan two separate gatherings for those who would like adult only particaption and those who would like a family outing, all that will be necessary is to let your honest feelings be heard

Marlene

SOOOOOOOOO Marlenes, I'm guessing this means you are volunteering to keep all this going??????????????? :baby04: :baby04: :baby04: I like your ideas, but I'm not really in a position to do much organizing...heck, I can't even keep my own life organized.......

What would you think about having "the Gathering" at someplace a little easier to get to like for example Longpool campground north of Dover on Hwy 7 (on the Big Piney) or Byrds Campground near Turner Bend off Hwy 23 north of Ozark on the Mulberry River? It just seems like there are several folks coming from western/NW Arkansas and Oklahoma that might be able to make a site more centrally located. What ever we do PLEASE don't plan anything the last week in April (I'll be camping at Longpool that week).

As far as organizing goes (not trying to tromp on toes here), the best way I know is for everyone to bring enough food for their families for all meals then potluck every meal. There's always enough and plenty of variety. If you run out of something then it served its purpose. Breakfasts are usually really easy to combine (everyones eggs, sausage, bacon etc). If someone wants to do something "big" i.e. ribs, roasts, turkey etc then they don't have to bring extra side dishes. Everyone else picks up that slack, as long as they know a main dish has been taken care of. As a method goes it sure takes the planning out of a big gathering and there always seems to be enough food.

Beth, this is how most of our first ones went...sometimes it was kind of organized, sometimes not....most of the time we just "grazed" all day........breakfast was/is usually our big get together meal, except maybe for a saturday night dinner....Marlene is the planner of our bunch...but I was put in charge for some strange reason...and I am NOT an organized person!! I just let the chips fall where they may....my life is organized enough for me by my work, so when I'm off work....I like to just let er rip........ As a side note, we usually have tons of food....enough food isn't normally our problem....Matter of fact, except for this campout, we've always had great turn outs....course, Dennis, Don, and me had a blast, as usual...hate that ya'll had to miss it.......
